Description

1938 Mauser "S/42" marked P08 Luger in very fine condition. Perhaps the definitive German pistol, this Luger, made 1938, represented the end of an era: this was also the same year that its replacement, the Walther P38, would be adopted. This particular example is a wartime bringback and shows no import marks. Condition is near-excellent. Metal bluing is excellent with the exception of a spot of browning on top of the barrel and another, smaller, spot on the underside - see pictures. Wood grips are strong and retain good texture. Two magazines are included; one is an aluminum baseplate model, whie the other is a wooden baseplate model. The aluminum one's nickel finish is flaking off, as is common. The wood baseplate magazine is in very good shape without significant flaw. Both function normally. Bore is good and all mechanical functions work properly. An original holster is included; the top of the flap is marked with the serial number and name of the GI who captured the pistol on a piece of tape, a nice bonus. A great quality and well kept collector Luger.
